When you meet Rafael, a rising star of the Istrian wine scene, you very quickly see everything he does is deliberate and precise. The concept behind his wines is no different and centers around a focused theme – clay. He farms 1ha of red Istrian clay soil organically. Macerates the wine for 8 months in clay quevri exposed to the forces of nature. And after a year in oak, bottles them using gravity only into gorgeous silk-screened clay bottles. Only 1800 bottles made.
WHAT IT TASTES LIKE
Expect a panetone in a bottle with dried apricot, quince, yeast and that classic malvazija almond finish.
