"We decided to produce orange wine, and the results show that we have not made a mistake. The wine we have today is completely different from everything else." - Boris Mrgudić
Tasting Notes: Very fruity on the nose with intensive grape aromas. In the mouth aromas of mature fruits are dominant.
Only 1,000 bottles of this bad boy are made a year from a recently discovered natural mutation of the plavac mali grape. Fermented naturally in open vats with four days of skin contact makes the Plavac Mali Sivi a totally unique rose gold color, almost like something out of Jony Ive’s design studio.
Serve slightly chilled and pair with shellfish, soft cheeses, or a Croatia football game.
The Plavac Mali Sivi (gris) is lighter than its better-known Plavac Mali cousin and has the perfect texture for making elegant, full-bodied wines.
Made by the Bura-Mrgudić family who have managed to separate enough of the Plavac Mali Sivi vines over the past three years to create the first sustainable vineyard of this variety in the world.
Organically farmed and manually harvested vineyards on red and brown soils with limestone rocks. Goblet, dry farming style no trellising, vines are naturally low to the ground, protecting themselves from high winds and sun.
