“By planting Zinfandel back on Peljesac I returned the child back to its mother.” - Marija Mrgudić
Tasting notes
Black currant, raisins, cherry, fig, oregano, black pepper, vanilla
Food pairing
Some would say this is the ultimate BBQ red and it pairs beautifully with red meat dishes and dark fish. Decant the wine for at least one hour before serving.
The Grapes
Organically farmed and manually harvested Zinfandel produces powerful, spicy reds with forward raspberry and pepper notes. Not as sweet as Californian Zin, or as soft as Italian Primitivo, the original Croatian Zinfandel has an intense character of its own.
The Winemaker
Marija and Boris Mrgudic are a mother and son team that manage the Benmosche Family vineyards in Croatia. Marija and her family, make some of the best wine in the country using time-tested, natural methods. Read the full backstory on the Adriatic Journal.
The Vineyards
Grown on the south-facing hillside terraces above Viganj on the Peljesac peninsula.
