Zlatan Otok Crljenak (Zinfandel) 2020
This is the real deal. The original Zinfandel grape, saved from extinction by Zlatan Plenković and lovingly grown in organically farmed vineyards north of Makarska. Since its rediscovery in 2001, the Plenković family has dedicated themselves to preserving this piece of Croatian wine history.
The nose is all cherry jam and exotic spices—think wandering through a spice souk. On the palate, it's powerful and intense with ripe red cherries, sweet strawberries, fragrant blossoms, and dried sage, finishing with those aromatic spices that linger just right.
